Course: 1000 Connections & Decisions (Leverich)

Our class worked with the Family Gym to create materials for kids in Boston about eating and living healthy. To showcase our work, students have selected some of their projects to feature as part of the virtual expo.

Healthy Eating Tips 101 by Molly Tucker: This service deliverable teaches kids about the benefits of eating whole foods and eating the rainbow, breaking down what these concepts mean and giving them an opportunity to engage in this practice in the activity at the bottom.

Salmon Tata & Avocado Oatmeal Shake Recipes by Sabrina Li: l made a presentation showing the steps of how to make Salmon Tartare. l think this recipe will be helpful to people who just started to go to the gym and want to eat healthier. The simple recipe is easy to learn and convenient to make.

What does a balanced meal look like? by Ella Philippi: I chose to make instructions for creating a balance meal. I described the different components, and then, added some interactive activities for the kids to complete.

Growing Green, Eating Clean! by Samantha Sobhian: This one is a (hopefully fun) informational sheet about easy & healthy snack ideas that are fun and inspiration for growing food at home. The audience is young children (with help from parents); thinking it could be a fun parent-child activity to try making some snacks or growing a garden on their own. I know I used to love trying to make healthy snacks at home that were fun from online inspiration, so I thought this might be a starting resource for families because the ingredients are simple, and allow for them to then think of other things they can create that are healthy and exciting.

Healthy Halloween Treats by Kasey Shapiro: This deliverable includes healthy Halloween treats, instructions regarding how to make it, and how they are beneficial to one’s health.
