In making this handout, we were inspired by the responses of working with the community
of the Career & Community Access Program (CAPP) of Jewish Vocational Services (JVS). Upon starting our first lesson, we prompted the class with the question, “what are some of your favorite foods?” The highest response was by far cheese or pepperoni pizza. In recognizing this, we opted to make a handout that encapsulates a healthier alternative to traditional frozen or take-out pizza. This decision led us to research and experiment with various healthy pizza alternatives, ultimately settling on cauliflower crust pizza for its nutritional benefits and versatility. This Cauliflower crust pizza handout is meant for the parents of this community to help their children obtain a healthier choice when it comes to dietary habits. By providing this handout to the parents within the community, it empowers them to take a proactive role in their family’s dietary choices, fostering a culture of health and wellness that can have lasting impacts beyond just meal times. It also serves as a valuable tool for education and engagement, encouraging parents to explore and experiment with nutritious alternatives together with their children through the shared experience of cooking at home and eating healthily.
