in the ARCH 5115 Option Studio: When Sustainable Design Meets Community. In this studio, we worked with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Roxbury, reimagining their space through a participatory and sustainable design approach. My role as an SLTA included facilitating community engagement, coordinating between the students and the Ethiopian community, and ensuring the integration of their needs and challenges into the design process. This artifact showcases the collaborative design proposals presented to the community, reflecting the mutual learning and partnership fostered throughout the semester. I chose this artifact because it highlights how service-learning can create meaningful design interventions that empower communities and advance sustainable, occupant-centric solutions.
