Our research project aims to gauge opinion on Northeastern Campus towards US foreign aid allocation given recent political changes. It is impactful to our partnership because EWB NEU Uganda requires aid from EWB USA, hence relying on donations from private institutions and endowments, among other sources. US foreign aid does not directly impact EWB NEU Uganda, however, by cutting federal funding for foreign aid the US would impact other foreign development projects like EWB NEU’s Uganda project. This would in fact reduce the ability for EWB to achieve its sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Our involvement in our experiential learning partnership allowed us to apply our individual studies and skills to a new field. We covered concepts and skills in class such as transdisciplinarity and asset-based community development, both of which we employed in our project and work with our student group. Transdisciplinarity assisted us in bringing in different disciplines and considerations during our research project. Asset-based community development enabled us to more effectively assess potential engineering solutions for our student group’s current project in Nakyenyi, Uganda.
