This comic tells the story of my experience with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly through the Digital Dividends program. Even though this was my second semester in the country, I still felt a little unsure about how I would connect with older adults in a new environment. Over time, I learned that even small gestures, like helping someone save a password or sitting down for a genuine conversation, can make a real difference. One moment that really stayed with me was when an older adult said I reminded her of her grandson and asked if my mom missed me. That conversation made me feel truly connected and valued. As the weeks went by, I became more confident in my ability to hold conversations, express myself clearly, and make people feel comfortable. I also grew more patient and aware of how to communicate across different generations. This experience taught me that being present, kind, and open can build real relationships and bring meaningful change to both others and myself. The lessons will stay with me forever.
