Abstract: St. Ambrose is a space providing shelter for women and children and their mission to help these families find affordable housing and to live independently when they do find a home of their own. However, with the recent pandemic, parents and their children have unique circumstances that is not only preventing them from going to school. During our service learning, we worked with the shelter and researched on “what and how do the limited opportunities caused by COVID-19 impact school aged children?” By understanding these effects, we were able to create a deliverable that the shelter could present to parents and staff on how to have children remain socially engaged with limited resources as well as transitioning back to school.
