Abstract: Massachusetts Promise Fellowship (MPF) offers a variety of experiences and support systems to its fellows to advance their careers and educational goals. These programs can be helpful for recruiting new fellows, assisting with retaining fellows, and establishing an alumni network. One of the benefits that MPF offers to its fellows is discounted classes from Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies (CPS). During their year of service, fellows are able to enroll in CPS courses for free, and as alumni, they are able to enjoy a 25% discount on future coursework at CPS. This report uses Alumni Survey Data to explore fellows’ experience with education before, during, and after their fellowship. It aims to discover what the educational experience of the average MPF fellow is, and how, if at all, that experience is enriched by their year of service. These findings will be able to validate for MPF whether their educational opportunities are being taken advantage of and if they are having a positive effect on fellows. It will also enable MPF to recruit more effectively, as they will be able to show prospective fellows what alumni have gone on to achieve and how MPF supported them on that journey. Finally, it will reveal trends in what types of education fellows are interested in and/or pursuing, which will enable MPF to create a stronger network of alumni and better prepare for the interests and needs of future fellows.
