This artifact is an op-ed focusing on the graving impact social media has on eating disorders among youths. Being opinion-based with factual evidence supporting the claim, here, I express my disappointment on how social media, a platform so highly advanced and convenient, can also be a platform that promotes negativity in many regards, especially eating disorders. I chose this topic and paper to represent my learning and partnership because there lies some common ground which includes my own experience concerning the topic. In this day and age, youths are easily exposed to social media and it is undeniable that they have also been exposed to harmful content on it. I see this especially prevalent in a few of the youths I have worked closely with. The program I personally volunteered with accepts youth without bias and believes that spreading positivity is the way to raise these youth. Even still, these youth can sometimes still express negative feelings stemming from their peers and social media. Nonetheless, this does not stop them from treating them the way they deserve to be treated. These feelings hit close to home for me for when I was younger, I suffered from self-esteem issues and went through my own battles, so I understand what these youths are going through. I want to help them in the best way possible. This artifact represents my learning and partnership in the ways which allowed me to continue my passions in helping others and put me in a situation where I see my own selves in the youths.
